During my time during AnthroCon, I had a bunch of different ideas for
what I wanted to sketch, so the plan was that after the con was over I
was going to sit down and sketch.
It was only partially successful.
But today is one of the sketches I was able to do that I actually liked.
Way
back in the ancient mists of time, I had fun giving Bahamut different
forms for the fun of it, and one of those forms was a bat form (I like
bats).
So, I decided it was time to revisit the idea, and here we are: Bahamut in his bat form.
I was surprised at how well this turned out, I just kind of ran with the posing and it seemed to work out.
At some point I will work on coloring this, just not sure when.

Sketch and Color - Drasko
Another art progression post for today.
Since sketching has been going slow for me, I decided to keep coloring sketches that I have, and I decided that it was time to add some color to one of my oldest characters in the Star Trek universe: Drasko.
Drasko is the chief engineer/first officer on Dorgan's ship, the USS Rubicon and he is a dracon, hailing from the planet Alpha Draconis III (or Thuban as it's more commonly known).
Drasko's history is long and interesting, or at least I think so. The original concept for him was that he was named 'Dan Dragon' and that he was, well, a dragon and the helmsman onboard the Enterprise-F under the command of Dorgan (this was back in the day when I don't think there was even an Enterprise-E). I wish I could get a scan of his original concept back in the day, you wouldn't believe how bad I was at art back then, heh.
Drasko has stayed with me all this time and over time he did evolve; I gave him a proper name and his look started to change and update a little.
When Star Trek Online was released and I started playing it, Drasko had to be included, but unfortunately the Alien editor in the game is somewhat limited, so I was able to create him, but not as how I wanted him to look.
Eventually I would sit down and actually give him a new and updated look, and voila, here it is, finally in glorious (if not flat) color.
Finished him in SAI, and overall I'm happy with his look. There are a few things that kind of bug me, but those are something I can edit should I get a chance to draw him again.

Character Sketch - Christopher Dorgan
Another small sketch for the day.
Doing more practice with humans, and showing off that I am indeed a nerd.
Christopher Dorgan, captain of the USS Rubicon.

Sketch and Color - Nal'Ia
Another work in progress shot today, this time dealing with the drawing of my character Nal'Ia.
Nal'Ia is an ancient deity in my world of Eternal Saga; he is an ice lion that represents the cold and harsh weather of the north, but he was kind, protective, and honorable; taking care of those who worshiped him and asked for his protection in the harsh climates of the north.
His story is a bit tragic though; many believed that the god's views and ideals were weak and soon they were working against him to try and bring him down and claim his land and powers. This plan was lead by his own brother and he worked on converting his followers against him. Soon, Nal'Ia was overthrown and imprisoned for a number of years until he was rescued by the remaining followers that still believed in him.
Nal'Ia would escape and try to reclaim his power, in Eternal Saga he would go into hiding and soon the whole mythology would fade from memory. However, in Champions Online I worked the story so that he would appear in Millennium City and he would work to reclaim his power while helping the people of the city.
Nal'Ia is actually the only deity that Gene worships, but because of how obscure the religion is, he keeps it to himself.
The character idea has been with me for a while now, but I never really knew how to go about working on him until I started to play Champions Online. I've mentioned before how awesome their character creator is, so it's no surprise that at some point I came up with a look for him in the game, I just now had to sit down and do some art of my own.
The sketch was done a while ago, maybe a month or two by the timing of this post and I decided it was time to sit down and actually work on the color for him here.
Still taking time to learn how SAI works, I really enjoy the program but it still has a few things that I have to learn how to work, and it's been a whole since I added any shading to some character art, and Nal'Ia really needed it here.

Character Sketch - Power-Armored Hero
A small sketch for today.
This was another random sketch from the sketchbook, influenced by Champions Online when they started to release new stuff for powered armor-themed heroes, so I decided to sit down and just come up with a random sketch for a potential character.
Oddly enough, when I was working on this guy, the look reminded me a lot of the designs for reploids from the Megaman X series, in fact someone told me he kind of looks like how Bahamut used to look as a reploid.
This was a pen sketch that I decided to throw on a bit of color with the three sketching pencils I primarily use just for a bit of variety.

Character Sketch - Gene Random Pose
A small posting for today.
This is just a random sketch with Gene I did in the sketchbook. Don't have a whole lot to say about this really, just trying to get some sketching done and I just did some random posing with Gene here.
There is one small thing about this sketch that did get me thinking though and that's the odd marking in the upper right-hand corner.
See, Gene has the strange black marking on his wrists that he usually keeps covered; the design is meant to be this swirly/tribal like design, but I am really rotten at designing things like that, so I keep trying to play around with how his marks would look (if anyone has any tips or ideas, please feel free to toss them my way).

Sketch - Slash Man
With AnthroCon come and gone again, I guess it's time to get back to
posting some sketches here for your viewing pleasure. Only one posting
for today though.
I am a big fan of Megaman and it had been a while since I drew any Megaman-related artwork.
While working on sketches, I randomly got hit with the idea to draw one of my favorite Robot Master; Slash Man from Megaman 7. I didn't want to just draw him though, I wanted to try and draw him in my own way, and so here we are with that attempt.
Simple posing here since I was just playing around with his look, but overall I kind of like how he turned out, it might be something I could try working with later on down the line, we'll have to see.

Sketch and Color - Starfleet Icarus
Today's posting is another 'before and after' of a sketch that I decided to add some color to.
This was a random sketch of Icarus that I decided to play around with, and I decided to show off how nerdy I am again by giving him a Starfleet insignia/combadge.
As some of you may have gathered, I am a huge fan of Star Trek, and occasionally I come up with odd ideas and usually those ideas involve my characters in the Star Trek universe (Bahamut, Gene, and a few others have popped up here and there). Interestingly enough, Icarus kind of popped up first in a Star Trek thought and started evolve into his own thing, heck part of his clothing is inspired by one of the uniform variants from Star Trek Online.
So, this idea randomly came up and I just had fun with it.
The combadge design is from the 'alternate timeline' as seen in the 'Next Generation' episode "All Good Things..."

Sketch - Gargoyle Design
This sketch is kind of the same concept as the monster design I put
up a while ago, wanted to sketch another 'monster' creature but this
time it's a gargoyle.
While this sketch is kind of random, this guy is kind of inspired from several different things: Gargoyles, Firebrand from Capcom, and the gargoyles from the Ultima series (I've been watching Spoony's video series on the Ultima series).
Definitely wanted to come up with an interesting look, while keeping the sketch and design simple, and I think it worked out here.

Character Sketch - Gene Paw Idea
Just a small posting today, but one that probably needs some explaining.
For the longest time, I've been thinking about something with my character Gene, more specifically, about his paws.
See, while Gene wears sandals, most of the time they're meant to be sole-less and he's been rather bare-pawed all this time, so I've been wondering about if there should be something that helps explain that: giving him some kind of underpaw or paw pads or something. He loves being around the snow and ice and such, so I figured there should be a bit of a reason for it.
This sketch is an idea that I actually kind of like; kind of this rough (if not scaly) underpaw that helps with traction and such. The problem is that this idea isn't really mine, it's based off of some of Yark-Wark's sketches for her character Tero and his race, but I feel like I'm ripping her off though.
So...it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it's one that will stay.

Sketch Page - Steampunk Bahamut and etc.
Today is a small doodlepage involving steampunk Bahamut.
Breaking in a new sketchbook so I've been doing all kinds of sketches and doodles and the like, so I had a page with Bahamut here; first is kind of a concept for a badge that I may try working on later on. Everything else are just some sketches of the insignia for Bahamut and the Arvanche, the jolly roger design, and finally a small little pose sketch with Bahamut.

Sketch - Monster
Sometime ago, I wanted to try and sketch out a monster.
Nothing elaborate; no hybrid creatures or fantasy races or aliens, just a straight up "monster".
So, I did.
Or rather, I tried.
No real direction with this, I just sat down and sketched. Honestly, I don't think it's quite 'monstrous' enough, the design is still kind of straightforward and plain, so...if I do more with this, we'll have to see what I can come up with.
Also, red pencil. That's different.

Sketch - Alien Race Portrait
Another small sketch post for today, a little more of a small portrait study on the alien race I sketched up a while back.
Not much else to say on this, it was a random sketch that I wanted to play around with while trying to come up with a decent name and few racial traits and customs they would have, but all of that may have to wait for another posting.

Character Sketch - Confused Hayato
Don't worry Hayato, I don't know either.
Small posting for today, something I did kind of randomly for he heck of it: a small sketch of my character Hayato looking a bit confused.
Just breaking in a new sketchbook since I haven't drawn in one in such a long time.
For those who m ay not know, Hayato is another small character of mine that is a 'lovechild' between my character Bahamut and another friend's character that I just did for the heck of it.
